roof-off reconstruction of existing bungalow, kirriemuir

the client needed to extensively re-construct an existing single storey dwelling house to allow for the combining of two families in a single family home - the main feature of the new design is a two storey lounge space on the southwest side of the revised house with an open first floor mezzanine space for use as a home office

new sliding-folding doors from the new family lounge space gives level access from the revised house to the south facing rear garden of the  property

the creation of quality internal spaces is very important where the proximity of neighbouring houses can create overlooking if the alterations are not carefully considered

north facing alterations included provision of a first floor master bedroom and two additional ground floor  bedrooms to the main house - external first floor terrace from master bedroom lounge space offers space for enjoyment of sun-sets over the foothills of the Angus Glens to the north

careful selection of slighty revised external finishes to the revised building allowed the external appearance of the original 1980's house to a more contemporary aesthetic with glazed balcony to bedroom terrace
